La Cerdanyas valley in Girona is the widest valley of all the eastern Pyrenees. Its peculiar location represents a natural reserve of great brightness and magnificence. It is the only Pyrenean valley that stretches from east to west, and because it has one of the highest sunshines of Spain (3.000 hours of sun per year). The minimum height of the valley is 1.000 metres and it is surrounded by mountains that range between 2.000 and 3.000 metres (Carlit 2.921, Puigmal 2.9009). During the months of winter the ski resorts of La Molina and Masella are its main appeal. Both ski resorts are connected by a cable car forming ALP 2500, the biggest skiing area of the eastern Pyrenees. La Cerdanyas valley is watered by the river Segre and its tributaries.
