It is a useful stopover point on the way to Spain or vice versa. Elvas is a bustling, busy place with a good ambience and good shopping areas. This was the first Pousada to be opened in 1942.
Medium sized in space and nicely decorated with pale colours. The furniture resembles the 17th century style giving the rooms an elegant look.
It is a fine example of Alentejo architecture. From the Pousada you can see the enormous aqueduct built on roman foundations between 1498 and 1622. There are also good examples of wrought iron to be seen in the city.
This Pousada offers not only all comforts but also the most typical Alentejo gastronomy. Food at the Pousada is exquisite having dishes such as "Pezinho de Coentrada" (pigs trotter) and "Ensopa de Borrego" (a special lamb stew). It is a very pleasant room, very bright and well decorated.
It is medium and finely decorated.
