Former hotel Hengill re-opens in January 2013 as the 4* Ion Luxury Adventure Hotel with a completely new, modern and fresh design, a beautiful spa with hot outdoor pool and a gourmet restaurant. With access to hot springs, glaciers, and the mystical glow of the Northern Lights, guests can enjoy the intersection of fire and ice within an environmentally friendly space. Designed by Minarc, the hotel is built with a prefabricated, panelized building system to maximizes energy efficiency.

Ion Luxury Adventure hotel is located in one of Iceland's most breathtaking natural settings, near Thingvellir National Park. Just 30 minutes from Reykjavik, it's beautifully situated on the slopes of Mt. Hengill, with a great view over Lake Thingvallavatn and the mountains surrounding the lake. The location is filled with power and energy from the Earth. Hot springs, steam, the Northern Lights, it's an area of natural activity and beauty.

The ION private rooms boast fair-trade organic linens, and incredible views. Each private bath is environmentally responsible with water saving shower systems.
